#56 -- Brit Awards recap

Tonight was the 30th annual Brit Awards and the results are finally in.

For the Album of 30 Years category, Oasis' album (What's the Story) Morning Glory won beating out Phil Collins' No Jacket Required and albums by Sade, Dire Straits, Dido, The Verve, Travis, Keane, Duffy, and Coldplay.

The lead singer of Oasis, Liam Gallagher, threw the award into the crowd after he made his acceptance speech thanking everyone who worked hard on the record, which did not include thanking his brother whom he is currently in a feud with.  Fans had mixed feelings about what happened and awards host Peter Kay was very unimpressed by it.

It is sad to see this kind of behavior at an awards show, and it just shows how immature some people can be.

I am also a little saddened that Phil lost to Oasis, but to me and to other Phil fans, NJR will always be a winner and he's won many awards for it back in the mid-80s.

I have not found any photos of Phil from the event, but I will post them as soon as I locate some.  That's one thing I'm very much looking forward to seeing.

February has proven to be a pretty busy month for No Jacket Required

Redbeard interviewed Phil on his radio program, In The Studio with Redbeard last week.  If anyone missed the interview, you can find it right here.

Phil will be in attendance at next week's Brit Awards for his nomination of NJR in the Album of 30 Years category.  To all who voted last month, thank you!  Let's give Phil another win for this album and wish him luck!

On February 20th at 10 p.m. VH1 Classic's new series, Behind The Music: Remastered, will be airing a documentary on Genesis with some old footage from their original Behind The Music documentary in 1999 and new footage from the 1981-2007 movie box set.  Those of you who do not own the box set should check out the new footage.  I haven't seen the 1999 documentary, either, so all of it will be new for me.  Can't wait to watch this.  Set your recorders and DVRs!

As previously mentioned, Phil will be back on In The Studio with Redbeard with his Genesis bandmates Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford for a two week two-part interview event about the band's Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction the weeks of March 1st and March 8th.  Sundays are your best bet to listen to the show and now you can find a list of stations that carry the show in entry #53.

Also as a reminder, The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will air live on the Fuse channel March 15th.  The airtime is still unknown, but I will post an update on this the closer we get to the event.

That's about it for the news so far.  Lots of things going on!

For those of you who might catch this entry, "In the Studio With Redbeard" will be on 92.9 The Bandit in a very few minutes (1 p.m. eastern/10 a.m. pacific).

Head on over to The Bandit's website and click 'listen live' to check out the show.

x-posted from the Facebook group, "One More Night - 25 Years of Phil Collins' No Jacket Required":

Since there's going to be a two-part Genesis interview in a few weeks after the Phil Collins interview this week, I thought I'd post three stations where you'll have your best shot of listening to "In The Studio with Redbeard" online:

92.9 The Bandit in Reno, Nevada (http://www.929thebandit.com/)

Eagle 107.5 in Wheeling, West Virginia (

Rock 101 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan (http://www.rock101.net)

The Bandit is on pacific time, but they air the show TWICE on Sundays -- 10 a.m.-11 a.m., which is 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. in the afternoon eastern time, and again from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m., which is 1 a.m. to 2 a.m. eastern.

On The Eagle, the show airs from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. eastern, 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. pacific time.

Rock 101 is on eastern time.  The program airs Sunday from 9 a.m. - 10 a.m., which is 6 a.m. - 7 a.m. pacific time.

All three stations have streaming audio, so you do not have to live in Nevada, Michigan, or West Virginia to listen to the stations -- all you need to do is click on the link that says 'listen live' and you can listen to them online.

I still haven't had a chance to listen to the NJR interview, but Sunday is really the best day to listen to Redbeard's show with more stations actually airing it then. The interview will be posted in the links section sometime next week for those of you who may not get a chance to listen to it this weekend.

Since this is LJ and not Facebook, I'll have the link posted in an entry.  Don't worry if you're not able to catch the show or you don't have a Facebook -- the link will be here too.

EDIT:  While I was updating, I gave the user info page a bit of a facelift and a new profile icon.  Check it out here.

I didn't have much luck at all this week finding a station that still aired the show on a weekday, but there's many more stations airing it Saturday and Sunday that offer online streaming audio, so I am pretty sure all of us will have a shot at listening to the Phil interview.

I'm going to list some more radio stations below.  I've not checked the station websites to see if any of them carry the show or have streaming audio yet, so I will be making some edits to this post later on.

These station lists are also pretty long, so I'm going to put them behind LJ cuts.

Saturday is behind the first cut:

Sunday is behind the second cut:

Sunday )

Unfortunately, two out of the three stations listed in my previous entry did not air the show tonight. One station no longer carries the broadcast and the other one airs it on Sunday from 11 a.m.-noon and not from 8-9 p.m. on Monday as indicated on inthestudio.net's 'where to listen' page.  There is one more station that might carry it, and it is the North Carolina station from 11 p.m.-midnight.

Only one station is airing In The Studio with Redbeard's interview with Phil tomorrow and you'll find it listed below:

94rock - Tuesday 6p-7p - Fairmont, WV

This station does not broadcast in streaming audio on its website so only residents of Fairmont can listen to it.

No schedule for Wednesday, but I found one station airing the show on Thursday in streaming audio:

The Coast - Thurs 10p-11p - Fort Bragg, CA

Just a quick reminder - Phil was recently interviewed on In The Studio with Redbeard about the No Jacket Required album.  The interview will be airing on the broadcast this week!

A sneak preview of the interview is up on inthestudio.net right now.

And here's a list of the stations that will be airing it tonight:

Eagle 106 - Mon 6p-7p - Texarkana, AR

106.1RDU - Mon 11p-12mid - Raleigh, NC

Q-94 - Mon 7p-8p - West Plains, MO

You do not have to live in these areas to listen to the show -- just go to the radio station websites and click on their streaming audio page and you can listen right from your computer!

I'll post a list of the stations airing the interview on Tuesday soon.  Have a great week!

Phil turns 59 today.  All of us here at the community wish him a very Happy Birthday!  Thank you for all of your great music and enjoy your day!
